Hello, I’m Dane. Welcome to A Pocket Full of Raisins.
The quick version of me is that I’m the father of a three year old, I work part-time as a data analyst for the NHS and I live near Leeds. In my spare time I write a blog about being a dad.
But like all of us, there’s much more to it than that. I’m also a scuba diver, a climber, a southerner living in Yorkshire, a nature lover and an environmentalist. I’m interested in gender and masculinity, and what they mean today. I’m an occasional runner, cyclist and, when I get the chance, a hillwalker. I play the guitar. I like beer and coffee and tea. I read books and listen to music. I try to balance all these things without burning myself out. Sometimes it works.
This blog, then, will cover a lot of ground depending on what is going on in my life at the time and how I’m feeling. I’ll always be honest – there’s no point doing it if I’m not – and I’ll try to be interesting and / or funny as well.
I hope you enjoy it.
